Annexation by Vote |
A well heeled group, apparently funded by local developers, is doing a survey of Boulder voters to determine what message they will use to fight the Annexation By Vote initiative. A number of local citizens were surveyed on Friday, August 18, Saturday, August 19, and possibly other days with questions probing their opinions about the City Council's competence, growth in general, and the Initiative in particular. From the questions, it is clear that this is in preparation for an expensive effort to kill off the ability of citizens to vote on major annexations that make it past the staff review process and are approved by the Council. (The Annexation By Vote Initiative requires that an annexation and development proposal be approved by the Council before it ever goes on the ballot.) The leadership of the group includes council member Robin Bohannan, who is employed by the County Commissioners, as well Lou DellaCava, one of the developers of the Hogan-Pancost property which would be subject to the Initiative. Interestingly, a number of the members of the leadership of this group are NOT residents of the City of Boulder. The full filing is available on the City web site. Boulder Speaks Out was able to note many of the questions in the survey, and we present them here, along with our assessment of the questions posed. Last Modified 8/22/06 12:46 PM |
