Annexation by Vote certified for the ballot

At the July 11 meeting, the City Clerk certified (PDF) that Annexation by Vote Initiative supporters had gathered enough signatures to require that the City Council put the measure on the ballot for this Novembers' election.

At this point the Council has three options: put the measure on the ballot as is, pass the measure themselves, or ask the petitioners to withdraw their measure in favor of another similar measure. So far it appears that the Council will put the measure on the ballot as is.

The Council will consider the measure at their August 1 and August 15 meetings, and will take public testimony at the August 1 meeting.
